The Story of God's Mercyland - From Bushland to a thriving church community
A PLACE WHERE EVERYONE BELONGS
Mercyland came to me in a series of visions starting in 2016. I, Gladys was commissioned to expand God’s Kingdom by telling people of His existence. The vision became reality when I met Colin and we developed concrete plans to build a faith resort and focal point for God’s mercy. God has given us the grace to bring Mercyland from the raw bushland to where it is now, a thriving church, a farm land producing crops and sustaining livestock and soon to be a safe home for 24 orphaned children as we near completion of the Gcinani Orphanage Home building. But the vision given from the Throne of Grace does not end there. Paper to Physical
In 2021, the vision finally started to find life, transitioning from a vision on paper to a reality in the physical when HOPIM was gifted a plot of land in Guwe, Zimbabwe.

The Search for Water
The first step of the entire process was to find a water supply and the pair of us commissioned geological surveys to determine the feasibility of drilling a borehole. The initial survey results were discouraging, reporting there was not enough water to sustain the plans for a Church community, homestead and farming activities.

We both took to prayer and booked another survey in faith, turning down offers for alternative sites where water was abundant. The second surveyor had more encouraging results and, after more prayer, we paid for a borehole to be dug in faith.
Glory be to God, we hit water at 42M and identified our own underground river!
The First Temporary Church Structure
In January 2023, we took our first steps constructing a makeshift church structure using canvas and locally sourced wood. This humble setup allowed us to hold Sunday services during the rainy season, providing a space for our community to gather and worship despite the challenges of the weather. It became a symbol of hope and resilience, as we came together to strengthen our faith and support one another through the storms. Each service filled the air with joy and gratitude, reminding us of the power of community and the divine.

The First Build
Work then commenced to fence and gate the compound before starting to build the first permanent structure: a 2-bedroom house. Evangelist Barbara gave up her home in Lupane to run the compound on behalf of the ministry and has been taking care of things ever since.

Visiting
Our first visit to Mercyland was a wonderful one. We gradually witnessed the raw bushland transform into a Ministry land to fulfil the vision sent by God. Both physical and spiritual work was done, with the seed planted, The Word preached, Sunday services held, and God’s Ministry was well and truly underway.

Throughout our second, third and fourth, visits, we had the opportunity to establish connections with the local community and watch as the compound started to take shape. Since then, we have continued to spread the Word of God as overseers of the development of Mercyland’s Christian retreat and HOPIM’s outreach initiatives.
Tabernacle Tent
We are excited to share that God has blessed us with an upgraded tabernacle tent, an improvement on our temporary structure. The ground has been cleared for the future site of our permanent church building, marking a significant step forward in our journey. We are grateful for this progress and look to what lies ahead as we continue to grow together in faith.
